Details

Training in confined space entry is a key component of the safe system of work.  Australian Standards AS2865-2009 Confined Spaces defines a confined space as an enclosed or partially enclosed space that is not intended or designed primarily for human occupancy, within which there is a risk of one or more of the following:
  • (a) An oxygen concentration outside the safe oxygen range.
  • (b) A concentration of airborne contaminant that may cause impairment, loss of consciousness or asphyxiation.
  • (c) A concentration of flammable airborne containment that may cause injury from fire or explosion.
  • (d) Engulfment in a stored free-flowing solid or a rising level of liquid that may cause suffocation or drowning.

Therefore, competency is essential for personnel who may be required to enter and work in confined spaces such as storage tanks, process vessels, pressure vessel, boilers, mills, other tank like compartments, silos, pipes, sewers, shafts, ducts, pits and trenches (for example).

Delivery

Training can be incorporated with other critical risk tasks which include hot works, gas testing, work permits, hazard management and risk assessments, as part of our critical risk training course - all delivered and assessed onsite in the workplace.

Alternatively, RIIWHS202E Enter and work in a confined space can be delivered as a stand-alone unit, in a one-two day course, depending on numbers. Student numbers per delivery are 1-14.

Fees

Fees will be quoted on request. Factors that will determine costs include:

  • Location of the workplace
  • Level of course customisation required
