Statutory Supervisors Course

The Statutory Supervisor ensures that foreseeable hazards are discussed and appropriate control measures drawn from the higher levels of the Hierarchy of Control are implemented and sustained in order to ensure tasks are completed without incident. Statutory Supervisors are the people that get others home safe and well, so the new legislation is elevating the position in status to ensure we do this more effectively as we deal with new and inexperienced people.

The course covers two units of competence that are approved for statutory positions under the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.

  • BSBWHS411 Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs
  • BSBWHS414 Contribute to WHS risk management

The review of the exam process also helps those attending to see what will be required to ensure they have the best chance of getting it right the first time.

The course content will include the following:

  • Review of statistics and processes
  • The legislative Framework in Western Australia
  • WHS terminology changes
  • Policies, procedures and programs
  • WHS training requirements
  • Identify hazards and assess risk
  • Using statistical data
